Flour Drum Newtown: A Culinary Oasis with Luna in the Heart of Newtown
Hey there,
We trust you've had a delightful Christmas celebration, filled with joyous moments amongst friends and family. As we step into the threshold of a new year, it presents an opportune moment for reflection on 2023 and envisioning ways to infuse 2024 with even greater happiness. This week, we're taking a nostalgic trip back to a unique cafe we visited in March 2023 with Luna, boasting a particularly intriguing ambiance, particularly inside! This cafe, nestled near Maeda, reaffirms that Newtown is a hub for trendy coffee spots.
Now, let's dive in!

Our Experience
Welsh Corgi~
We arrived at Flour Drum around 1 pm, where the warm and welcoming staff ushered us to the courtyard with Luna. The path to the courtyard, located to the cafe's left, felt like entering a secret garden – a serene space adorned with lush plants and fascinating artifacts.

Flour Drum Courtyard
The courtyard, shaded by large market umbrellas, offers a respite from the sun. On the off chance of a downpour, a small section under a zinc roof provides some shelter.

Food Menu

Partial Drinks Menu
The menu at Flour Drum is a delightful twist on classic dishes, all housemade. They offer more than just coffee – indulge in beers or wines, perfect for a sunny Sunday brunch with loved ones.
Big Drum Breakfast & Housemade Parpadelle Lamb Ragu
My wife chose the Big Drum Breakfast, featuring 2 fried eggs, smoked pork belly bacon, pork sausage, kale, a special housemade sauce, and two slices of sourdough toast. Sampling the bacon and sausage, I can attest to their perfect preparation.
I opted for the pappardelle lamb ragu pasta, and it was a culinary delight. The homemade sauce was so enticing, that my plate was soon spotless.

Doggy Amenities
It's advisable to bring a water bottle for your doggy as we didn't spot a communal water bowl.

Quote of the week
Petting, scratching, and cuddling a dog could be as soothing to the mind and heart as deep meditation and almost as good for the soul as prayer.
