Maeda Newtown Adventure: Savouring Japanese Flavours with Luna

Hey there,

I hope the holiday season's merriment is enveloping you warmly. As Christmas and New Year's Day draw near, I wish to extend a heartfelt thank you to our loyal readers who have been part of our journey from the start. Your support is immensely appreciated! This week, let's reminisce about a cafe we visited a few months before our newsletter's inception, a place we're considering revisiting.

Let's dive in!

Our Experience

We arrived around 1 pm to find the cafe bustling, but luckily we secured an outdoor seat with Luna. Fortuitously, we found parking directly opposite the cafe. However, be mindful that parking in Newtown can be a challenge during peak times, given its popularity. The staff greeted us warmly upon arrival.

Although indoor seating with pets is available, it was fully occupied when we arrived. The cafe's interior, inspired by Japanese minimalism, creates a modern, inviting ambiance. Surrounded by fellow dog lovers, we immediately felt at home.

The menu, inspired by Japanese cuisine, also includes Australian favourites like Avo on toast. I highly recommend their Japanese dishes, which are exceptionally delicious.

Katsu Hamburg Steak

Katsu Hamburg Steak

The Katsu Hamburg Steak sandwich was a culinary delight. The fried steak was crispy on the outside and juicy within, complemented perfectly by the tangy mustard sauce and soft bread.

Breakfast Plate

My wife opted for the traditional Japanese breakfast plate, a delightful array of grilled salmon, braised tofu, and more, with each element harmoniously complementing the others.

Recently spotted on their Instagram, they've added Tonkotsu Ramen to the menu, which I'm eager to try on our next visit.

Seating with Doggy

Our furry friends are welcomed indoors perfect for hot or rainy days. Luna, as usual, ended up comfortably in my lap, no matter where we sat. 😅

Doggy Amenities

It's advisable to bring a water bottle for your doggy as we didn't spot a communal water bowl.
