🐾 Lunch at Mattina Concord West

We trust your week has been marvellous, and for those embarking on a well-deserved holiday, safe travels. Last Saturday, we endured one of the hottest days on record, soaring near 40 degrees in the afternoon. Thank heavens for air conditioning! Luna, freshly groomed, is now primed for the festive season's photo opportunities. This week's journey took us to the inner-west suburbs, conveniently dovetailing with our grocery shopping plans.

Our Experience

We visited on a sunny Saturday afternoon, blessed with a gentle cool breeze, ideal for alfresco dining. We endeavour to feature cafes and restaurants welcoming our four-legged companions indoors, though these are rare gems. Conveniently, a small, complimentary parking area is situated merely 50 metres from the cafe.

Fortuitously, we secured a table outside without delay. The staff greeted us warmly, menus in hand and smiles aplenty.

The cafe’s interior is modern and luminous, with a communal toilet that is meticulously maintained. The venue exudes a charming neighbourhood vibe, evidenced by the regulars engaging in friendly banter with the barista.

Menu Highlights

Their menu offers the usual cafe fare, complemented by a special menu, which regretfully I didn't photograph. It featured an additional three options, one of which my wife chose.

My choice, the baked eggs, never disappoint. Bursting with flavour, the tomato sauce had a delightful zing, perfectly paired with cheese. The grilled bread was exemplary, arguably one of the finest I've experienced.

However, the standout was my wife's selection, the eggplant open sandwich (name 80% confirmed). Grilled eggplant with a unique pesto sauce atop their exceptional bread made for an unforgettable vegetarian dish. We're eager to return, especially if this dish remains on the menu.

The coffee was equally impressive, though the cafe’s distance from our home is a bit daunting.

Our furry friends are welcome in the outdoor seating area. Luna, as always, found her cosy spot, often ending up on my lap. 😅

Doggy Amenities

We advise bringing a water bottle for your doggy, as there wasn't a communal water bowl in sight.

Our Rating

Would we revisit? While not ruling it out, the distance is a consideration. Should we find ourselves nearby, a return visit is likely.
